Playsystem

In an RPG where fighting is not that unusual, it is important to have a measurable system that determines how strong a character is compared to other characters. In this thread you'll find everything you need to progress and how to use the system.
There is also a basic income, which will generate experience on a weekly basis.
Weekly Income: 25 Exp (distributed every Monday)
Per Post: 10 Exp (5 Exp in Flashbacks)
Plots/Events/Adventures: pro rata
Rule of Thumb: 10 D Ranks unlock 1 C Rank, whereas E Rank is considered as 2 D Rank characters. 10 C Rank unlocks 1 B Rank. A Rank and S Rank are not available from the beginning. Characters that achieve a higher rank inRPG still count as their starting rank.
C Rank: 2/10 D & E
B Rank: 1/10 C

The rank of your character is determined by two factors: the traits and the techniques. Which means the higher the rank, the stronger your character. This value is an indication if you should pick a fight with someone or not.
The basic rules of thumb is: characters on the same rank are equal opponents. A fight between characters with one rank difference is rather one-sided for the stronger character, however with help, right conditions or simply luck a fight can still be won by a weaker character. However if the rank is more than two, the weaker character is going to lose in a fight on its own.
- Examples:
- Rank C vs Rank C: equal fight, 50:50 chance for a win.
Rank D vs Rank C: Rank D is going to have a tough time. However, C shouldn't mess around, as he is not guaranteed to win. With some effort D has a fair chance.
Rank B vs Rank S: 0.1% chance that B wins. S is going to win under all conditions, except if B gets help of two B or an A character. But it would still be a tough fight.
This rank is specifically for characters that can't fight, emphezize on can't not won't. This rank applies to all children under the age of 6 and to special cases of being disabled.
It is possible to upgrade from this rank, but it means that special traits might get lost.

Traits are a unique way to build up your character. They are strength and weakness at once, always giving an advantage or ability but also add constraints toward it. They are separated in different groups, such as race, faction, language, weapons and magic.

Some people in Bilgewater speak it too, as well as south-eastern Ionia.

These techniques are special moves, magical or physical, that your character knows and which are his/her signature moves.
You can have up to five of them, whereas one is your ultimate ability. A technique is much stronger than the other abilities. They have to match the character's general fighting style and should not be arbitrary. Normal punches or sword strokes do not fall under this category. Techniques are divided into 2 levels: Your regular signature abilities and your ultimate ability.
Rank E: N/A
Rank D: 1 signature move
Rank C: 2 signature moves
Rank B: 2 signature moves + 1 ultimate ability
Rank A: 3 signature moves + 1 ultimate ability
Rank S: 4 signature moves + 1 ultimate ability

As it may happen that someone has trouble fighting, here are a few tips to help you. It starts with making sense in your post and expressing yourself in a way that the opponent understands what you mean. With many complicated and interlaced sentences, your opponent often does not know what is meant and can, therefore, react incorrectly. So if this is the case and you do not fully understand what the opponent means, the first step is to write them and try to clarify. So be sure to describe everything in detail without formulating it in the complicated. The situation and also things like the environment can be crucial and therefore should always be in your post.
Another point that can often cause confusion in battles is to take too many actions in a post. The problem that exists here is, for the most part, that the adversary has your first action, e.g. an attack cancelled or blocked - with this everything else of the post will be ignored like it never happened. It is therefore always advisable to react to the opponent at the beginning of the post and then to start an attack or a simple combo. A good way is to write shorter posts which focus more on action and environment.
Please keep in mind that this is a fictional world, where logic and physics do not always match the real world. Therefore, it makes no sense to use any mathematical formulas or the like. This is seemingly often forgotten and constantly avoided in battles, which greatly reduces the tension and also makes the fight lose credibility because in this world, of course, you hold out much more and seemingly deadly things, like a fall or a strong attack end only in injuries. Especially with a higher level of strength, the character's resilience gets higher and higher, so you can keep things going. So do not be afraid to get hit!
